The PhD students of the SSeMID consortium meet in Italy for a week of scientific and professional skills training
From the 8th of April to the 13th of April 2018, all the SSeMID ESRs met in Montestigliano, Tuscany, Italy for a full week of network-wide training. The first half of the training included transferable skills sessions led by Geraint Wyn Story and Katie D’Arcy from Cambridge Training Associated Ltd. They focused on leadership, employability, career management, networking and professional impact.
The ESRs were acquainted with the Belbin Team Roles in order to assess how they work and evolve in a dynamic team environment, and were put to practice with various exercises. Afterwards, the technical training was delivered by Prof. Patrick Farrell from Oxford University and ESRs used the software package FEniCS to work on adjoint theory for sensitivity, optimization and control problems
